School Holiday Chess at Cannonvale Library
Wednesday afternoon Chess Club will continue at Cannonvale Library during the September school holidays, under the watchful eye of volunteer Richard Egelstaff, who achieved an ICCF International Master rating and was Australian 2016 Correspondence Chess Champion.
A game that takes just 30 minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master, playing chess boosts concentration, improves problem solving, mental health, cognitive skills and memory, and teaches independence. Studies have shown that children who start playing at a young age gain increased focus, self-confidence, patience and logical thinking skills.
An intergenerational game, the sessions are fun, free and open to everyone aged 6 to 106! Richard is keen to share his knowledge and assist others learn the basics of the game or hone their skills if already an experienced player. He will happily play, coach and train anyone who is up for the challenge. Why not drop in and give it a try!
